... super-bright taffeta print dress

So when I said I had some taffeta in a really bright print, I wasn't kidding!

My eyes!

I kind of fell in love with this taffeta at the fabric store. Honestly, the lighting in my apartment is really bad - it's even brighter in real life. It's got a kind of abstract animal print thing going on, which is not usually to my taste, but the colors just jumped out at me.

Since the print was so bold, I kept the shape really simple - it's basically just a tank dress with elastic waist and a button closure in the back. And pockets, obviously pockets!

I thought it would be a fun dress for the summer that could be easily dressed up or down. I finished it this past weekend, when I wasn't organically divesting my parents' lawn of dandelions. I forgot to take any in-progress pictures though, as usual.

I love covered buttons.

I can't help feeling like it needs something, though. A belt, maybe? It's obviously pretty busy already, but somehow it seems like it needs a little more oomph. Any suggestions?

Lacking a belt, poorly accessorized, or possessing a fatal design flaw?

  1. You're so darn talented. I love it. :)

Hm. I'm thinking belt. Skinny belt. Black, or white, depending on shoe choice.

  2. I love cute. I'm thinking a necklace, funky earrings or perhaps a funky bracelet would add some fun.

I'm wondering if it would fit mum :)

  3. I love this dress, and I want it!!! I'm def. putting the show on my calendar....

  4. I just LOVE the design of your clothing! Where can I buy if I don't live in Maine?

  5. That's so nice to hear, thank you!! I do have an Etsy site: It's a little of this, a little of that :).
